Heavy ice buildup on utility pole lines in southeast Labrador has resulted in phone and internet outages for about 800 customers – and the outage could last for several days.

According to Bell Aliant, 20 utility poles have been damaged in the area north of L’Anse au Loup. Services affected include home phone, mobility services, and internet.

The company says they’re working with Newfoundland Hydro to restore service, but due to the severity of the damage and inclement weather it could take several days to fix.
