Health Minister Tom Osborne calls an incident at the long-term care home in Baie Verte involving a picture taken of a patient without their consent “serious” and says a review of facilities will be conducted.
The RCMP’s investigation has determined no criminal charges will be laid after a single image was brought to their attention by the home’s administration.
Police say despite rumour and speculation, the image did not contain any nudity.
Osborne says the staff involved have been disciplined and one worker has been removed from employment.
He says government is eager to ensure that long-term and personal care homes are safe, professional and comfortable places to be.
They also want to make sure that the home is the best fit for a resident and their needs, with an eye on admission protocols.
