Criminal charges have been laid in connection with an incident in St. John’s Wednesday night.
At about 10:45, the RNC spotted a stolen vehicle in the Blackmarsh Road area. Police tried to stop the vehicle, however the driver struck the police car and fled on foot. After a chase, police arrested a 41-year-old man, who was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, assault on a peace officer, failure to stop at the scene of a collision, resisting arrest, and multiple breaches of a release order. He was also found to have $28,000 in outstanding fines and a suspended licence.
He was held to appear in court.
