The NLC is reporting an increase in net earnings for the second quarter ending October 1, 2022.
The Liquor Commission is reporting net earnings of $58.3 million, an increase of $1.1 million or 1.9 per cent over the same period the previous year.
The dividend paid by NLC to the provincial government totaled $60.5 million for the quarter, $5.5 million higher than Q2 in 2021.
President and CEO Bruce Keating says they anticipated that sales and alcohol consumption would “normalize” as they came out of the pandemic, but they didn’t know how much of an adjustment would happen, or when it would occur.
Alcohol sales for the second quarter were $82.4 million, up 3.3 per cent—mainly due to higher beer and ready-to-drink sales.
Cannabis sales through licensed cannabis retailers totaled $17.7 million, an increase of 10.2 per cent over the same period the year before.
