The RNC seized a number of vehicles on Wednesday.
Around 1:30 p.m., police in Corner Brook pulled a driver over on Broadway and found the vehicle was not insured. A ticket was issued to the driver.
At 2:45 p.m. in St. John’s another car was pulled over and found to be uninsured. The driver, who had also failed to transfer ownership, was ticketed accordingly.
Criminal charges were laid in connection with an incident at 10:45 p.m., where police found a stolen vehicle in the Blackmarsh Road area. Police tried to stop the vehicle, however the driver struck the police unit and fled on foot. After a chase, police arrested a 41-year-old man, who was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, assault on a peace officer, failure to stop at the scene of a collision, resisting arrest, and multiple breaches of a release order. He was also found to have $28,000 in outstanding fines and a suspended licence. He was held to appear in court at a later date.
At 11:00 p.m. in Labrador City, police issued a 7-day suspension to an 18-year-old.
All four vehicles were impounded.
