The huge number of COVID vaccines administered and the very small number of adverse reactions reported as a result is a testament to their safety says Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
She says there are expected reactions, including stiffness and soreness in the arm, or chills or fever, which are not reported, and then there are more serious reactions like myocarditis, but even those are relatively rare given the huge number of shots administered over the last two years.
Even in the case of reported cases of myocarditis, the vast majority have been mild, which is a testament to the overall safety of the vaccines.
Fitzgerald says COVID is still circulating in the community and recommends that people stay up to date on their COVID and flu vaccines.
