Scilly Cove Records has released the debut single by local artist Courtney Wicks.
The Water is Wide, Wicks’ rendition of a Scottish folk song, was recorded over two days at Trinity Hall, the old Anglican Church in Winterton, Trinity Bay, that was purchased by award-winning and world-renowned music producer, Greg Wells.
The song is from Wicks’ upcoming album, Love Me.
Scilly Cove Records, an independent record label dedicated to the storytelling and music of Newfoundland and Labrador, operates out of Winterton.
It’s part of Wells’ vision for the old church property, which was bought on a whim. Wells, who has worked with some of the best-known recording artists of the last three decades, has deep roots in Trinity Bay where his grandfather was a former United Church minister.
