Charges have been laid against a retired RCMP officer as the result of an investigation into an incident in Clarenville in June of 2019.
Corporal Steven C. Blackmore, who is now retired, was an active officer but on leave at the time of the incident.
He’s been charged with assault and forcible confinement in connection with the assault of a man while off-duty.
SIRT-NL was notified, but due to a conflict of interest, the matter was referred to RNC for investigation, with civilian oversight.
Blackmore has been released to appear in court January 26.
