After months of operation, the Canadian Red Cross is officially closing its Hurricane Fiona Reception Centre in Port aux Basques.
The Red Cross quickly set up shop at St. Christopher’s Hotel in Port Aux Basques to assist those devastated by the impacts of Hurricane Fiona in late September.
The Reception Centre will permanently close at the end of day Thursday, December 15.
The Canadian Red Cross says it has provided assistance to more than 88,000 households across Atlantic Canada.
The Red Cross has opened emergency shelter to more than 1,200 people, provided support at 40 reception centres and shelters, and provided more than 5,700 emergency items to affected people and communities.
