Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says he won’t be commenting on the dismissal of CUPE 2099 President Ken Turner.
Turner was quietly let go from his position on Monday. Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Aker said he is not able to comment as it is a personnel issue, but ensures it has nothing to do with the 11-week strike by the union over the summer.
Aker assures the two incidents are unrelated and says he has seen the release sent out by CUPE NL President Sherry Hillier, which did not come from the local union. He says it is a personnel matter in an operational context.
