An elderly woman is dead and another is in hospital with serious injuries after they were struck while crossing the main highway in Spaniard’s Bay yesterday evening.
RCMP say the collision occurred around 5:30 near Restaurant 99. One woman died at the scene while the other was taken to Carbonear for urgent care.
The driver of the vehicle, who showed no signs of impairment, remained on the scene. It was dark and raining at the time.
The investigation continues.
