Labrador-Grenfell Health has been forced to make some changes due to the available number of registered nurses at the hospital in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Effective immediately, all obstetrical services have been diverted to the hospital in Labrador City. That diversion is expected to last until January 13.
Expectant mothers are being contacted to discuss their birthing plan options.
All coastal medevac patients will be diverted to a Labrador-Grenfell Health facility outside of the hospital in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, while early discharge is being arranged for patients who do not require acute care services.
There is no change to emergency services at the hospital in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and residents who have a medical emergency are still being encouraged to go to the ER or call 911.
