People are being asked to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life this holiday season.

VOCM Cares is hosting its annual Holiday Blood Drive this Thursday at the Canadian Blood Services on Wicklow Street in St. John’s.

Blood donations are down this holiday season with widespread illness in the community having an impact on people being able to keep their appointments.

That, coupled with increased demand and the impact of poor weather on allowing people to get out is leading to a renewed call for blood donors.

People are encouraged to book an appointment through 1-888-2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
