The province’s Privacy Commissioner has instructed the Department of Industry, Energy and Technology to conduct a secondary search for records related to an access to information request regarding a proposed wind farm and hydrogen plant.

The complainant requested records related to the proposed project, but the department withheld some information.

The complainant raised concerns about how complete the department’s search for records might be and identified various records which he believed should exist but were not provided.

Privacy Commissioner Michael Harvey says the department did not provide sufficient evidence to support exceptions to access, or that a reasonable search had been conducted and he has recommended release of the information.
