RCMP and the Springdale Fire Department are asking residents to stay off Corporal Bouzane Boulevard in the town as firefighters battle a major industrial fire at Yates Boat Shop.

Both the boulevard and Little Bay Road were closed to traffic to protect fire hoses laid across the streets, and to give firefighters as much room as necessary to knock down the blaze.

But the main road through Springdale was passable as of 10 15 p.m.

Both pedestrians and vehicle traffic are still being asked to stay clear of the area for the time being.
