People on Bell Island are beside themselves with no ferry service at one of the busiest times of the year.

The Beaumont is in Long Pond for mechanical servicing and is unable to make it to Bell island due to surges at Portugal Cove.

The Legionnaire was out this morning to tend to an issue with the bow ramp. However, the Department of Transportation anticipates the vessel to return to service later today.

The Users Committee was frustrated this morning, saying the last boat over to the island left mid-afternoon yesterday. They say the information lines are not being updated regularly.

Meanwhile, the Flanders has been out of service since early November.
