Premier Andrew Furey is wishing everyone across the province a merry Christmas.
Furey hopes people will take time this holiday to reflect on what’s important to them.
He hopes people have time to reflect on their families, and what it means to be a Newfoundlander and Labradorian.
Ministers of Health, Education Highlight Workers
The province’s minister of health is giving thanks to healthcare workers across the province this Christmas.
Tom Osborne says workers have been carrying a “very heavy burden,” in particular with covering off shifts due to the healthcare shortages.
He wants to recognize the valuable service they provide, noting that they have been working through a pandemic and cyber attack among other challenges. Osborne says government is committed to recruiting more healthcare workers.
This Christmas, Education Minister John Haggie has a simple message for education workers across the province: Thank you.
Minister Haggie reflects on the optimism he has seen in the K-12 system in 2022.
He visited many schools across the province at the beginning of the year and was struck by the energy and enthusiasm of students and teachers alike with the return to in-person classes. He says everyone is on the same page that face-to-face learning is the place to be.
