Construction on a new regional recreation facility in Corner Brook is continuing but may finish a little later than projected.

Work on building the facility began this year. It will be connected to Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus and feature a pool, gymnasium, fitness facilities and daycare.

Outside construction is finishing up, with work beginning on the interior in the near future, which Mayor Jim Parsons says will continue throughout the winter and spring.

He says the original completion date was in October of 2023, but it may be delayed slightly. He says the facility is the last piece needed for an otherwise great recreation offering in the city.
