MusicNL is requesting that the province put more money into the local music industry in the new year.

The province has been spending $350,000 dollars annually into MusicNL since 2011.

In a letter to the premier, the organization is asking that an additional $400,000 dollars be put forward in the upcoming budget to support the growth of the music industry in the province.

They say they’ve seen an increase in the number of musicians over the past two years, with over 800 members a part of the industry.
