Two men are due in Harbour Grace provincial court tomorrow to face a raft of charges, including attempted murder, following a shooting and dramatic takedown in Dunville over the Christmas weekend.
One man is believed to have been shot and being treated in hospital but his condition is not known.
Shane Cochrane and Shane Spurvey both face charges of attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, as well as breaking and entering in the commission of an indictable offence.
Cochrane faces additional charges of fleeing from police, dangerous driving, impaired driving, refusing the breathalyzer, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, resisting or obstructing an officer, and speeding more than 50 kilometres an hour over the limit.
Police responded around 3:00 a.m. Saturday to initial reports of gunshots in the Thorne Street trailer park area of Dunville, asking residents to remain inside and everyone else to avoid the area.
A few hours later, they were focused on a home on Ville Marie Drive, this time ordering residents to remain inside and others to stay away from the scene.
Several hours after that, just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday, the two suspects were taken into custody.
Cochrane and Spurvey made initial court appearances in St. John’s on Christmas Day.
They’ll seek bail when they appear in Harbour Grace court tomorrow.
