The City of Mount Pearl is planning to step up its snow-clearing efforts this winter.
Over $500,000 has been put aside in the 2023 budget for an additional 1,700 hours of contracted snow clearing on weekends.
Mayor Dave Aker says city plows will still be in use on the weekend along with the private operators.
“We’ve always been proud of our snow-clearing reputation,” he says. Aker describes it as a safety net to ensure that resources are available to handle winter conditions at times when there may be fewer staff on duty.
