2022 was another successful year for the province’s fishing industry despite a jagged start to the season.
Secretary-Treasurer of the FFAW Jason Spingle says the overall landed value of the fishery for 2022 is in the $5 billion dollar range and individual fisheries saw a number of economic milestones.
Spingle calls the fishery the province’s renewable mega-project.
Last season saw the snow crab fishery valued at almost $750 million dollars, while the lobster fishery reached the $100 million dollar mark for the first time ever.
