The NLMA has donated a brand new car seat to the families of some of the first babies born in the province in 2023.
Megan Vautier and Alan Howell welcomed Kacey Marie Howell into the world at the Janeway Hospital at 3:12 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces.
The NLMA has presented some 370 car seats to families across the province over the last 37 years to encourage the proper use of car seats and seat belts to keep children protected in vehicles.
According to the stats released in 2020 – the most recent year for which traffic collision data is available – there were 17 deaths and about 1300 injuries in children 4 years of age and younger across Canada due to vehicle collisions.
A new car seat is presented to the first baby born in each of the province’s hospitals that perform routine deliveries every new year.
