Two Dunville men accused of attempted murder during a home invasion in the town will remain at His Majesty’s Penitentiary for at least another month.
35-year-old Shane Cochrane and 40-year-old Shane Spurvey are accused of forcing their way into a residence armed with a gun and a baseball bat.
The incident occurred late on the night of December 23 in Thorne’s Trailer Park.
Two people in the home—a man and a woman—were injured, with the male victim still recovering from a gunshot wound.
Spurvey was arrested without incident at a home on Clarke’s Hill, while Cochrane, who had barricaded himself in a home on Ville Marie Drive, was arrested almost 12 hours later.
Both are charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and break and enter, while Cochrane faces additional gun-related charges including careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
The incident also triggered warnings from the RCMP for residents to stay in their homes for a period over the Christmas weekend while police tracked and took the suspects into custody.
