A Bonavista Peninsula man has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for killing another man while driving drunk.
The decision was handed down by Judge Paul Noble in Clarenville provincial court this afternoon.
Fifty-three-year-old Doug Skiffington, from the community of Brooklyn, was convicted of impaired driving causing death in connection with the fatal crash near Jamestown on August 1st, 2021.
Skiffington was driving a pickup that collided with a motorcycle around 8 p.m. on Winter Brook Road.
The 55-year-old man on the bike, from nearby Lethbridge, died at the scene.
Skiffington failed a roadside breath test and was arrested at the scene.
The crash also forced closure of the road for about five hours as first responders did their work.
