The province is moving ahead with wind development on the island after lifting the moratorium on wind energy.

While the focus right now is on wind development to fuel hydrogen production for the export market, Energy Minister Andrew Parsons says it’s also possible they’ll be looking at wind development for local use.

“That’s not something we’re ready for yet,” says Parsons, but he believes there are “huge opportunities” for the province to generate energy for industrial development or to get off diesel generation.
