The provincial government is leading a mission to Ireland to recruit both physicians and nurses to help fill vacancies in this province.
The mission is in addition to other efforts being made by government to recruit health care professionals both nationally and internationally.
Health Minister Tom Osborne is leading a team that leaves for Ireland this week.
Government says the training standards for physicians in Ireland are similar to this province, while the team will also be exploring recruitment opportunities for nurses who meet equivalent licensure requirements.
The mission is in addition to a recruitment drive in India which has reportedly met with great interest from students at English language nursing schools in Bengaluru.
