A 28-year-old Placentia man has been arrested and charged after police responded to reports of an irate man, armed with a firearm, who was attempting to break into homes in the Jerseyside area on the weekend.
RCMP received the first report around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7. The suspect, identified as Sherlock Stacey, was located at a residence on Fort Louis Road while attempting to break into a home.
Stacey, who is prohibited from possessing firearms, was arrested without incident. Police seized an imitation firearm during the arrest.
Stacey has been charged with firearms-related offences, break and enter, damage to property and breach of probation. The investigation continues.
It’s the latest in a series of violent criminal activity in the Placentia area in recent weeks.
