The city is working on a new bylaw to address the problem of excessive and disruptive lighting.
Residents of the Outer Battery are frustrated with bright flood lights set up by a neighbour that they say is affecting their quality of life, but the city has been unable to take action because its bylaws don’t cover nuisance lighting.
Deputy Mayor Sheliagh O’Leary hopes that’s going to change.
She says they’re asking the province to amend the City of St. John’s Act to allow for the implementation of an excessive lighting by-law.
