A new political poll shows that close to half of Canadians asked would like to see Prime Minister Justin Trudeau step down as leader before the next federal election.
The national online survey results show a mix of opinion, with 48 percent saying Trudeau should step down. 35 per cent of those asked believe he should stay on as leader, while 18 per cent are not sure.
Residents of the Prairies—57 per cent— are more likely to believe Trudeau should step down, while younger Canadians, aged 18 to 24, were more likely to say they were unsure.
The results are from an online survey conducted in partnership between Narrative Research and the Logit Group. The survey of 2,237 Canadians 18 and older was conducted between December 8 and 10, 2022, from the Logit Group’s online Canadian Omnibus. Data was weighted based on the 2016 Census, by gender, age, and region to reflect actual population distribution.
