Marble Mountain has officially opened for the season.
The first chairlift took skiers up the mountain Wednesday morning.
Operators of the popular ski resort were initially optimistic for a Christmas week opening, but an unseasonably warm and wet December laid rest to those plans.
However, marketing manager Dustin Parsons explains that colder weather experienced over the last week really made a difference in making them confident to open the lifts.
He says the never had a lot of natural snow, but the cold spell allowed them to manufacture “an indescribable amount of snow” that has “totally transformed the mountain.”
He does say that there is some sketchy weather in the forecast for this weekend, so “we’ll see how things go on Saturday.”
