The RNC is offering a warning to the public of powerful opioids, like Fentanyl, in illicit drugs currently in circulation.

Police say there has been a spike over the last 48 to 72 hours of emergency calls involving overdoses.

RNC Constable Jason Walsh says for those who use or are around people who use illicit drugs, its important to have a Naloxone kit on hand to reverse the effects of a drug overdose, and allow emergency crews time to get the person to hospital.

He says free Naloxone kits are available at various sites around the province.
