Eighteen new para-transit vehicles are being added to the Metrobus fleet thanks to $2.5 million in joint funding through the public Transit Infrastructure Fund.
The existing buses used in the GoBus fleet servicing St. John’s and mount Pearl will be replaced in the next few weeks.
Eighteen new accessible vehicles have been purchased to replace the aging fleet, and are in the process of being delivered.
Metrobus General Manager Judy Powell says the new buses will help to ensure continued reliable and accessible transportation service in the region.
The new buses are expected to be in service before the end of January.
