Bell Island RCMP continue to investigate what they’re calling a sudden death that occurred in the community overnight.

There is an increased police presence on the island, including a number of units.

Residents are free to move around as normal, but they are asked to respect any barricades in place.

There is no known risk to public safety.

The major crimes section is leading the investigation with the chief medical examiner also involved.

Officers are expected to remain on the scene throughout the day and possibly into the weekend.
