The City of Corner Brook says its prepared for the significant weather forecasted for the area this weekend.

With forecasts calling for a mix of snow, rain and freezing rain, the city says crews are on standby.

Salt and sand trucks are fully loaded and public works staff will be checking and clearing major catch basins.

There will be extra sand available for residents in the Civic Centre parking lot, which will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

The City asks residents to monitor infrastructure on their properties, prepare for a possible power outage, and to report any infrastructure issues to the city by calling 637-1666.
