Much of the province will be seeing a mixed bag of weather this weekend with mixed precipitation and fluctuating temperatures.
Environment Canada meteorologist Justin Boudreau says special warnings are in effect for much of the island, with various rainfall amounts projected.
He says the east could see up to 50 mm, but areas of the south coast could see up to 120 mm.
Boudreau says mild temperatures are expected to fall quick, bringing freezing rain to central and western Newfoundland.
Up to 60 mm of freezing rain is forecasted inland, with up to 20 mm projected along the coast. Boudreau says there’s a good chance that could cause damage and power outages.
Along with the rain, winter storm watches are in effect from central to the north coast, with the north seeing snow and blowing snow for much of Saturday.
Boudreau says it’s a large system that is expected to linger in the province until early next week.
