The province distributed $500 dollar cost-of-living benefit cheques to all residents making $100,000 dollars or less in the late fall.
Dinn recounts a recent conversation he had with a woman seeking help from people outside the St. John’s Farmers Market.
The woman lives in a bedsitting room which is subsidized. Twice a month she receives $197, which includes her $30 dietary supplement.
Dinn says that works out to just over $13.00 per day, and he wants to know how someone is supposed to live on that amount of money.
