The provincial Progressive Conservative leadership convention isn’t for another ten months, but a candidate has already come forward.
Tony Wakeham announced late yesterday that he is taking another run at the party leadership. His campaign was officially launched yesterday just one day after the interim leader David Brazil announced that he would not be
throwing his hat in the ring.

Among Wakeham’s top priorities are health care and cost of living. The former CEO of Labrador-Grenfell Health says while the Liberal government is focused on recruitment, he’s more concerned about retention.
He questions how many local nursing and medical students have permanent full-time jobs lined up when they graduate. “Recruitment is wonderful,” says Wakeham. “But we have to be retaining the people we have.”
This is Wakeham’s second run at the party leadership, having lost to Ches Crosbie back in 2018.
