The eastern part of the province is under winter storm watch.
It’s shaping up to be a messy weekend for the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas, with 15 to 25 cm of snow and wind gusts of 70 km/h starting Friday evening, and lasting through to Sunday morning.
The snow may push as far west as Terra Nova, but central and western Newfoundland will be mostly spared.
Meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, Mike Vandenberg, says there’s still a fair amount of uncertainty surrounding the system.
He says some details may change, but overall it’ll be a snowy and blustery weekend, with poor travel conditions Friday night and Saturday.
