RCMP are investigating after St. Bernard’s Elementary in Witless Bay was vandalized late last night.
RCMP and NLESD staff responded to the Kindergarten to Grade 4 school’s alarm being tripped at around 11:50 p.m shortly after evening staff left for the night. A male was seen running from building.
A number of fire extinguishers were emptied throughout the building and 33 windows were smashed out.
RCMP are investigating while staff and contractors are working to clean and prepare the building for students’ to return.
An update on the reopening of the school will be provided later today.
