An area in the centre of St. John’s is being affected by a watermain break.
As a result, Bonaventure Avenue, from Empire Avenue to Mayor Avenue, is closed at least until midnight.
Drivers are urged to use an alternate route and expect delays in the area.
The city says no vehicles or local traffic, including those visiting family, friends or businesses, will have access, and all traffic will be detoured.
Flagpersons will also be in the area to direct traffic.
Surrounding properties may experience loss of water, low pressure or discoloured water, with advice to let it run cold until it clears.
The break also forced Brother Rice Junior High school to suspend classes and dismiss students early.
