The RNC is seeking information following three cases of arson in the capital city’s east end over the last week.
The incidents occurred between Saturday, January 14 and Thursday, January 19.
The first fire broke out last Saturday shortly after 5:00 p.m. Firefighters were called to a sports facility on The Boulevard. It damaged the exterior of the building.
At around 1:00 Thursday afternoon, police and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department were called to a residential shed fire on Empire Avenue between Rennies Mill Road and Kings Bridge Road. Witnesses in the area saw a man running from the scene.
An hour later, there was another shed fire on Empire Avenue between Rennies Mill Road and Kings Bridge Road. Witnesses saw a man leaving the scene who matched the description of the person running from the previous fire scene.
The suspect is in his 30s or 40s, is between 5 foot 6 and 6 feet tall, and was wearing a green puffy coat, silver aviator sunglasses and dark pants.
Police are asking anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage from the area of the Boulevard and Kings Bridge Road between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, and from Empire Avenue between Rennie’s Mill Road and King’s Bridge Road and surrounding area between 12:30 and 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
