A familiar face has been hired as the new executive director of a group that represents four Inuit-owned fishing companies in Nunavut.
Derek Butler, who served as the Executive Director of the Association of Seafood Producers in Newfoundland and Labrador for two decades, stepped down at the end of last year to lead the industry trade association which was founded in 2012.
Nunavut Fisheries Association Board Chair Julai Alikatuktuk says they conducted a full search and received a number of applications for the job, and says Butler comes to the job with the extensive experience they needed.
