It was a busy night for Newfoundland Power and first responders as they responded to multiple outages and reports of line damage.
Around midnight, almost 12,000 customers were without electricity with most outages occurring in the Northeast Avalon.
There were multiple reports of lines down. The St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to 5 reports over the last 24 hours.
The outages are believed to be caused by the blast of winter that hit the east coast on Saturday with heavy snow weighing down on lines.
As of 5:30 Sunday morning, the majority of customers have had their power restored.
