The Federation of Labour says workers need what it calls progressive labour law reform and “not a piecemeal approach” to labour legislation.
President Jessica McCormick says rather than drafting legislation after a strike begins, on a piecemeal basis, the provincial government should be working towards a holistic review of labour legislation to ensure labour laws work for working people.
She says the province cannot allow private operators to “use the crisis” in the healthcare system “as a tool to break workers’ rights.”
