A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted break-in and armed robbery in the Spaniard’s Bay area.

Harbour Grace RCMP responded to two separate incidents on Sunday after a man unsuccessfully tried to break into the Seaside Lounge on the main highway. Later that same day, police responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at the Baccalieu Trail Pharmacy in Spaniard’s Bay.

Police were able to identify the suspect, and Ryan Sheppard was located and arrested at a residence a short time later.

The accused is facing charges of armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and break and enter.

He’s been released to appear in court at a later date.
