A Grates Cove woman has been charged with crashing her vehicle, then boarding a school bus and assaulting two students inside.
The incident happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday when Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a suspected impaired driver.
The driver of a school bus happened upon the scene and stopped to see if help was needed. According to the RCMP, that’s when the woman involved in the crash boarded the bus, which had grades 7-12 students on board, and assaulted two students inside. Then a second, empty school bus arrived on the scene. Police say the woman boarded that bus as well but was detained inside until police arrived.
Thirty-seven year-old Nicole Driscoll was arrested at the scene for impaired driving and assault.
Driscoll, who was on conditions of a court release order, was held in custody and appeared in court today. She is charged with two counts of assault, assaulting a police officer, refusing a breath demand, and failing to comply with her release order.
The investigation is continuing.
