The Newfoundland Rogues suffered their first loss at Mary Brown’s Centre last night 115 to 101 to the London Lightning.
Armani Chaney contributed 28 points and 5 assists for the home team and Brandon Johnson added 25 points and 9 rebounds, including 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.
The teams were neck and neck into the third quarter, until the Rogues went on a cold streak and London was able to build a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. On the whole, the Rogues struggled from the field, shooting just 40 per cent for the game, compared with 57.5 for the Lightning. London was led by Jordan Burns, who finished with 28 points.
Former St. John’s Edge head coach and current Lightning coach Doug Plumb made his return to the Rock. Both benches were assessed technical fouls at different points.
That was the first of a three game series between the teams—they’ll resume action at the Mary Brown’s Center on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
