There was a lineup of patrons eager to see the new spacious library in Conception Bay South even before the doors opened at 10:00 this morning.
The 8,000 sq. ft. facility, located at Remembrance Square in Long Pond, replaces the smaller cramped quarters.
Mayor Darin Bent says they did the best they could with the old building, but it’s great to have a new building with all the services and amenities one would expect to have in a library.
Megan Parsons and her two children, Annie and Caroline Dawe, love the new facility, especially the room set aside for young children.
The top shelving has been placed at a lower position so that more people can access books on the top shelf.
The new library also has extended hours and will stay open three nights per week in addition o regular daytime hours.
