Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro says the Holyrood Plant is operating as per normal despite a fuel tanker delivery being delayed by one week.
Hydro was responding to concerns that production had been reduced at the site due to a lack of fuel.
They state that Holyrood is not running out of fuel, and there is adequate supply to run the plant as needed without any impact to customers while they wait for the delayed delivery.
Further, they say that they have reserve power on standby at all times in the event of an emergency.
In terms of fuel storage, Hydro says they historically had four storage tanks at the site, but the decision was made not to refurbish one of the tanks, at what they call a significant cost of $4.7 million, due to the long term plan being to rely less on Holyrood.
